Cheapest way to get paid from abroad — Ghana, 2026.
Every international payment bleeds in three places: the platform's cut, the withdrawal fee, and the exchange rate nobody shows you. Direct USD rails into Ghana cost about 1.5–6% all-in. SWIFT wires cost 3–9% plus a $15–$50 flat charge. Mobile money receipt runs 1.5–5%. Ranges from published fee schedules, verified October 2026.
The rails, compared.
The three cuts, one invoice.
Cut one — the platform. If the money arrives via Upwork or Fiverr, they take their commission first (0–15% variable on Upwork since May 2025; a flat 20% on Fiverr). No receiving rail can give that money back.
Cut two — the withdrawal. Getting dollars off the platform and into a Ghanaian wallet or bank costs a few dollars per cash-out on most rails, or $15–$50 on SWIFT.
Cut three — the FX spread. The invisible one. Converting USD to cedis at a bad spread costs more than most withdrawal fees. Dedicated USD rails usually beat mobile money on this layer — but not always, which is why the calculator prices both and shows ranges, never fake-precise numbers.
Nigeria and Kenya corridors use different rails and spreads — the calculator covers both, calibrated to local fee schedules (wide estimates pending real receipts from riders on those corridors).

Questions.
What is the cheapest way to receive money from abroad in Ghana?
Direct USD rails (Wise, Grey, Payoneer and similar) into a local account or mobile money — roughly 1.5–6% all-in. SWIFT is the expensive path: 3–9% plus a $15–$50 flat intermediary fee. Verified October 2026.
Do I still pay e-levy on mobile money?
No. The 1% e-levy was abolished on 2 April 2025. Operator fees — send, withdrawal, FX — are what remains.
Should I receive dollars straight into mobile money?
It works and costs about 1.5–5% all-in, but the USD-to-cedis spread is often wider than on dedicated USD rails. Compare both on your real invoice size in the calculator before locking the habit in.
What is the best app to receive money from abroad to Ghana?
