Why you received less.

Client paid $500. You received $350-390. Nothing was stolen — four line items took their cut in sequence, and only the last one is visible on most statements. Here is the full decomposition, with receipts.

The same $500 direct (client ACH → Wise/Grey) extracts 0.90-6% depending on corridor — $495-495 → $470-495 to your balance. The delta between routes is the number the calculator exists to show. Stage two of the Kit removes the 20% commission entirely by moving the client off-platform — the payout-leg fix (stage one) only handles the last two lines.

Reading your own receipts.

Line one — commission. Fiverr takes 20% of the order, flat, before anything else. This is the largest single extraction and the one freelancers negotiate least, because it is not negotiable. It changes only by changing how the client finds you. Full Fiverr fee breakdown.

Lines two through four — the payout legs. Processing (~5.5%), Payoneer receiving (1-2%), withdrawal (1-2% + FX spread). These are the stage-one numbers: same client, same invoice, cheaper rail = more money. The corridor bands in the calculator cover them: Fiverr route 22-28% all-in vs direct rail 1.5-7.5% depending on country.

Line five — the FX spread you never see quoted. Providers convert at their rate, not the mid-market rate. The gap is real money: 1-3% on typical freelance amounts. Receipts that show only "processing complete" without the rate used are incomplete receipts. Keep every receipt — amounts, rates, timestamps — for tax records (Ghana · Nigeria) and for the monthly ritual of recomputing your all-in band.

The calculator runs the four-line decomposition on your invoice amount, currency pair and withdrawal frequency — midpoint or conservative (worst-case) mode. 20 seconds, no email required.

Questions.

Why did Fiverr deduct 20% before I even received the money?

Fiverr's commission model takes 20% of every order at the moment of clearance — it is priced into their marketplace economics, not a withdrawal fee. You cannot reduce it per-order; you reduce it by billing the client directly (stage two of the Kit).

Is the Payoneer withdrawal fee negotiable?

No — Payoneer's withdrawal and receiving fees are published schedule rates. What you control is which rail withdraws (Payoneer vs Wise vs fintech cashout) and how often (batching reduces flat components).

How do I document fees for tax purposes?

Keep every platform statement, Payoneer/Wise transaction receipt (showing amount, rate, fee, timestamp), and client invoice in one monthly folder. Fees reduce net income in most tax treatments; the receipts are what make the claim. See the tax pages for country specifics.

Does the calculator use midpoint or worst-case fees?

Default is midpoint of each corridor band; conservative mode uses the high end of every range for worst-case planning. Both are shown — the honest answer is a range, and the mode tells you which end you are planning for.
